Hello Friends of Xenia,
I hope this note finds you well and enjoying the first weeks of the new year and decade. We are in preparation mode at Xenia, and there are several things I want to make you aware of:
First, our fifth annual Sam Matthews Social Justice Award Banquet has been postponed to Thursday, February 11 at 7 p.m. It will be held in the fellowship hall of First Christian Church and, as previously stated, will honor long time Norman businessman Jim Agar for his volunteer work with Bridges (formerly known as Independent Living Services for Youth), namely his design and stewardship of the Bootstrap Scholarship Program. Tickets for the banquet are $20 each; to purchase please email Paige Hoster, assistant to the executive director, at paige@xeniainstitute.org or call 405-321-8682.
Design work continues on a new Web site for The Xenia Institute. The new Web site will be devoted specifically to the institute’s local programming and dialogue work in the Norman community, while Xenia’s existing Web site will be converted to the institute’s online news magazine. This separation of the two Web site concepts will allow our work to be more clearly divided and will give us a greater opportunity to showcase what’s going on in our community toward dialogue and deep, meaningful communication.
Finally, I’m pleased to announce that we have just released the first of four video segments on dialogue that were premiered at the Xenia holiday party. These four segments feature local leaders, Xenia dialogue fellows, and last year’s Matthews Banquet keynote speaker, Dr. Tom Boyd, and take on the questions “What is dialogue?” and “What can it do?” The video series was produced and edited by Xenia media and social networking intern Amanda Bliss. Please take a moment to watch the video; you’ll be glad you did. Each week, we’ll be releasing a new segment of the video, so stay tuned.
As a reminder, please call or email today about your Sam Matthews banquet tickets. We look forward to seeing you on the 11th!
Clint Williams
